The Rawstorne
The Rawstorne is a beautiful four-bedroom semi-detached house that features a primary suite and a study located at Welborne Garden Village.This spacious home boasts an open plan kitchen and dining room, making it ideal for growing families or for those who are seeking a welcoming new community.
The name 'Rawstorne' is inspired by Henry Rawstorne, who inherited Roche Court, now known as the Boundary Oak School, through Marriage. Roche Court is located just moments away from Welborne and has influenced several of our house names. Including Peter Des Roche, the builder, inspired the name of our 3-bedroom home, 'The Roches.' Additionally, Whalley Smith Gardiner, the previous owner, inspired the name 'Gardiner' for our beautiful 3-bedroom home.
During his time at Roche Court, Henry implemented significant changes, hiring architect Walter Cave to enhance the house, including the addition of a kitchen garden.
Henry Rawstorne was said to have lived in Roche Court until his passing. It was then said to have been sold by his daughter. During World War II, the property was used for military and naval purposes. Since 1960, it has been functioning as a school, with several details of Roche Court remaining.
