It’s National Apprenticeship Week 2023
We’re showcasing the apprenticeships we offer here at Pye and the apprentices who are thriving with us.
When you join us, you are not just joining a workforce, you are joining our Blenheim and Pye family. There are many hats to choose from, but something we all share is our sense of belonging. We work in harmony to meet our wider goals whilst striving to help you achieve your own personal growth. The experience and skills you’ll gain with us will arm you for a successful future career, whatever that may be.
Remember Ewan and Charlie S, the bricklaying apprentices we introduced last year? They’re currently working across our communities in Radley, and Marcham and have come a long way and learnt a lot since they first joined us.
Ewan’s been offered a job with our subcontractors upon completion of his apprenticeship and Charlie has talked about the opportunity of potentially starting his own business one day! Hopefully, the skills they’ll have learnt with us will stand them in great stead for the careers ahead of them.
Meet Connor, our Level 2 Carpentry apprentice. Having spent 2 years at Abingdon and Witney College, Connor chose an apprenticeship at Pye because of our long-standing reputation in Oxfordshire.
He hopes to gain his full qualification with the apprenticeship; he believes the experience he’s gained with us has been invaluable to his progression and thoroughly enjoys learning from the trades on site, alongside his fellow level 2 apprentice Leo and level 3 apprentice Max.
Along with Bricklaying, Carpentry, and Customer Care apprenticeships, we also have a plumbing apprenticeship which was music to Charlie T’s ears. Having previously worked on the site at Park View as a hod carrier (labourer assisting the bricklayers) straight out of school, Charlie felt that we were a good company to work for - and earning whilst working towards a qualification was the best of both worlds for his career progression. We caught up with him this week, a year since we last interviewed him, and his enthusiasm for the role and eagerness to learn and improve is still very much apparent.
There is a palpable kinship on site, everyone works hard to support each other and create a fun and positive work environment.
